The Institute of Zoonosis of Jilin University is established in 2006 and the Laboratory of Zoonosis is founded along with the Institute and constitutes an important part of it. At present, there are 4 professors, 1 associate professor, 1 lecturer, 1 assistant, 3 doctoral supervisors, 6 master supervisors and 24 doctoral and master students in the laboratory.

Over the past five years, more than 40 SCI articles and 100 core journal articles were published,5 national patent authorizations and 2 applications obtained, 2 university textbooks edited then published by national publishing houses, 4 national "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" textbooks edited. The laboratory also participated in the compilation of 4 national "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" textbooks. The laboratory has undertaken nearly 40 national, provincial, ministerial-level projects and more than 20 internal-school projects with a total funding of more than 5 million RMB.

The laboratory is responsible for the teaching of key courses of veterinary public health such as Veterinary Public Health, Animal Food Hygiene, Immunology, Animal Food Microbiological Inspection, Animal Food Physical and Chemical Inspection to the undergraduates and some postgraduates.

The laboratory has trained more than 60 doctors and masters who are serving important positions in national institutions, universities and enterprises.

After nearly 5 years of concerted efforts, the staff echelon of the laboratory has become more reasonable and the scientific research direction towards zoonotic diseases and animal food safety has become more mature.

The laboratory mainly conducts researches on the epidemiology and pathogenic causes of zoonotic diseases, disease mechanism and host response mechanism, rapid detection technology of polluted toxic and harmful substances in food as well as immune mechanism of aquatic organisms.
