The 12th Academic Seminar of the Veterinary Food Hygiene of the Branch of the Chinese Society of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine was successfully held in Changchun

From December 21 to 23, 2012, sponsored by the Chinese Society of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine Veterinary Food Hygiene Branch, organized by th Institute of Zoonoses of Jilin University/Key Laboratory of Zoonoses Research Ministry of Education/Zoonoses Academy of Jilin Province,the 12th Academic Seminar of the Veterinary Food Hygiene of the Branch of the Chinese Society of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine was successfully held in Changchun.

The theme of the conference is Strengthening Source Control Of Animal Food And Improving Food Safety. A total of 118 people from universities, commodity inspection, military academies, enterprises and other units attended the conference.

The conference is chaired by Liu Mingyuan, Vice Chairman of the Veterinary Food Hygiene Branch of the Chinese Society of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine. Xia Xianzhu, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Han Wenyu, Assistant to the President and Director of Dpartment of Jilin University, Li Chuanye, Deputy Secretary-General of the Chinese Society of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine and Zhang Xinling, secretary general of the branch of Veterinary Food Hygiene of the Chinese Society of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine as well as other relevant experts and leaders attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches respectively.

Professor Shen Jianzhong , Dean of School of Veterinary Medicine, China Agricultural University; Researcher Yang Ruifu, Director of the National Key Laboratory of Pathogenic Microbiology, Institute of Microbiology and Epidemiology, Chinese Academy of Military Medical Sciences;Professor Fang Weihuan, Director of Institute of Animal Preventive Medicine, School of Veterinary Medicine of Zhejiang University; Professor Zhou Enmin, Dean of School of Veterinary Medicine, Northwest A&F University;

Professor Xiao Lihua, a researcher and senior scientist from the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; Professor She Ruiping of China Agricultural University, Professor Li Xiangrui of Nanjing Agricultural University and other 18 experts and scholars respectively delivered special reports on their research fields.

Participants conducted extensive discussions and exchanges on animal food safety and related veterinary public health situation both at home and abroad; conducted an in-depth analysis of the current situation of food safety in China. The conference also showed the new scientific research achievements and new technologies of China's public health, disease pathogens, inspection and quarantine.

The academic conference achieved fruitful results. The conference included 57 submissions and selected 6 excellent papers. Academician Xia Xianzhu highly praised the academic reports made by the participants and awarded certificates and bonuses to the winners of excellent papers.

The general view of the participants is that the high level of the academic report represents the research progress in the related fields in China, reflects the current research status in the field of veterinary food hygiene, puts forward a series of cutting-edge topics, and explores the technology and measures for the quality and safety control of livestock and poultry products in China at the moment and the conference will have a profound impact on the improvement of China's food safety level.
